Speech given by the representative from the IMPP to the "50 years is Long Enough!" rally. The rally is hold outside of the Chinese Embassy in Washington DC on the eve of the 50th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
50 years ago, the Mongols of Inner Mongolia lost their freedom. For 50 years, the Mongols in Inner Mongolia, together with the Tibetans and the Uyghurs have been living under the double repression from the Communism and Colonialism imposed by the People's Republic of China.
As the result, people murdered, culture destroyed, religious practices prohibited, fundamental human rights deprived and human dignity insulted in Inner Mongolia. During the past 50 years of Chinese occupation of Inner Mongolia, the Mongols have become the minority in their own land; natural resources of the land have been emptied, grasslands and forests have turned into farms and deserts and the Mongols' traditional way of living has been forced to an end; abortion and birth control policies have been enforced and thousands of Mongols have been arrested and jailed simply because of their political beliefs. All of these make the 50th birthday of the People's Republic of China's as a cause of condemnation, instead of celebration all over the world.
50 years is more than long enough for the peoples who are suffering from the regime and it is far more than long enough for such a brutal regime to survive and celebrate today. We must act now to ensure that the regime will not last for another half a century.
Today, we are on the threshold of a new century. In the new century, people's right to self-determination must be regarded as equal as the God-given rights of an individual; In the new century, the international community must act to protect a people from a repressive government's gross and systematic violation of the fundamental rights; In the new century, we must fight side-by-side with each other for freedom and democracy, and in the new century, the Chinese Communist regime must only be remembered and reminded as one of the darkest periods in the human history.
Thank you.
