(May 03, 1998, New York)---The Inner Mongolian People's Party just held a demonstration in front of the Chinese Mission to the UN in New York to mark the 51st anniversary of the Chinese occupation of Inner Mongolia.
Several Eastern Turkestani and American supporters also joined the demostration.
The demonstration started at 12:00 noon at the southeast corner of the 42 st and 12th Ave. Signs of "Free Inner Mongolia", "China Out of Inner Mongolia/Eastern Turkestan", "China: End occupation of Inner Mongolia/Eastern Turkestan"... and flags of Inner Mongolia and Eastern Turkestan, even a huge map of Eastern Turkestan were at the scene. Flyers of "Inner Mongolia, Facts you should know" with a geographical map of Inner Mongolia were handed over to passerbys.
A journalist from the "Daily News" of Turkey and a few reporters from the local Chinese newspapers showed up. According to reliable source, the new Ambassador of PRC to the US was there inside the Consulate Office building at the time when we were demonstrating. Our demonstration, especially the group picture-taking right in front of the office's main door (and under the surveillance cameras) must have given him some impression. So the PRC's Bureau of National Security will also receive a copy of our group picture through the cameras. An open letter to the US president was sent after the demonstration.
The demonstration ended at 2:00 p.m.
